Boyfriend and girlfriend, one of them is the main character whose POV the reader sees. MC believes that they are two halves of a whole, and is very dependent in their relationship. The other one, though, is of a healthier mindset and constantly tries to help MC become more independent. By the end, MC realizes that they are not two halves of a whole. Rather, they are two.

"With this, I'll always be there for you no matter what." ... Wait. My eyes snapped open. I tore off the bracelet, and a spirit appeared, embracing me, shielding me from the attack.
